The first and premiere season of the online series The Last One premiered on June 18, 2014 and finished on July 12th 2015. The series is written as a script and then illustrated with pictures taken on the game The Sims 3. The series was created and is written and directed by Sam James Peck, but the fourth episode of the season was guest written by Rob.

The season introduces the character of Peter Thompson, a former firefighter, who finds himself in a world filled with the undead. Together with his family and a group of other survivors that he befriends, he must learn and fight to not just survive, but thrive.

ProductionEdit

Writing and production for the series began in May 2014. It was on-going for a while and the second part of the season was heavily in production for many months and was published and released with the final eight episodes starting on May 24th 2015. The season finale aired on July 12th.

As of March 31, 2015, thirteen of sixteen episodes were fully completed, with the script for episode fourteen and fifteen also finished. The entire season was then completed the following month.

A second season of the show has now begun airing as of July 2016.

Cast of CharactersEdit

The first season features fourteen main characters and a large supporting cast.

Main CharactersEdit

  • Peter Thompson - a former firefighter and husband to Lorna and father to Milo and Beatrice. He is a loyal, kind and dependable man who ends up becoming the unofficial leader of the group of survivors after the abrupt death of his predecessor. (15 episodes)
  • Sean O'Hara - a tough but comical Irish character who was unemployed before the apocalypse but once served in the army. He has been an alcoholic for a number of his years and his drinking caused his wife and son to abandon him. (15 episodes)
  • Shiro Kato - a hardened, closed-off survivor who often acts hostile in order to cover up his fear and insecurities. Despite being an antagonistic presence during the early episodes, he has since grown into a dependable character who helps protect his fellow survivors. He is especially protective of his sister, Aimi. (14 episodes)
  • Aimi Kato - a fierce, capable character who acts as a pivotal defender of the group. She has been romantically linked to Ollie and she often finds herself keeping an eye on her hot-tempered younger brother, Shiro. (15 episodes)
  • Eli Loche - a former prison convict who escaped after the apocalypse alongside other inmates whom he presides over. He acts as the main antagonist of the series as he is seems to enjoy taking complete strangers hostage and playing mind-games with them. (10 episodes)
  • Jai Patil - a former doctor who lost his wife and daughter during the early days of the outbreak. Jai is shown as a soft-spoken, reflective survivor who plays an important role within the group as not only is he a father figure and confidante for the survivors but also serves as their doctor. (14 episodes)
  • Joy Maybell - a fiery and firm woman who is also shown to be kind and maternal. She lost her husband and sister to the undead and despite having a quiet background role in the first few episodes, she has since grown into a prominent leader within the group. (14 episodes)
  • Angie de Luca - a survivor from Summerlyn City who in her first appearance, is captured and held prisoner by Eli. Angie is portrayed to be a capable and tough fighter but also a dependable and compassionate one. (10 episodes)
  • Alexis Norton - a no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners survivor who forms a bitter hatred for Eli. Despite her dislike for the main antagonist, she is shown to be somewhat cold, calculating and ruthless herself. (10 episodes)
  • Javier Rodriguez - a smooth talking, charismatic survivor who was a fellow inmate of Eli's. Unlike Eli and his followers, Javier is shown to be a good man. He is openly hunting Eli and his lackeys for the murder of his other former inmates who Eli killed in cold blood after they opposed to his actions and leadership. (9 episodes)
  • Georgie Rutherford - a kind young woman who seems to be harboring a secret. She is shown to be the most down-to-earth of the main group of survivors as well as the least hardened and adapt at the new brutal world. She also acts as Beatrice's primary guardian in the absence of her real parents. (14 episodes)
  • Charlotte Layton - a tough, skilled fighter who is shown to be very handy with a bow and arrow. She is is also distinctive for her lighthearted and sometimes sarcastic personality. (10 episodes)
  • Victoria Franklin - a spoilt, self-centered former heiress who finds herself completely helpless and dependent on others when the apocalypse begins. She is the owner of the penthouse in Summerlyn City, which has been a prominent location in the season. (7 episodes)
  • Bobby de Luca - a teenage survivor of the apocalypse and the youngest of the main characters. Bobby formed a bond with fellow survivor, Javier, who took the young man in and protected him. Bobby has shown traits of bravery and also appears to be reliable and intelligent. (8 episodes)

Recurring CharactersEdit

  • Beatrice Thompson - Peter and Lorna's young, sweet daughter. She has grown fond of Georgie, who acts as her guardian when Peter is absent. (15 episodes)
  • Lorna Thompson - wife to Peter and mother to Milo and Beatrice. Lorna has been shown to be extremely kind and protective of her family, but is also willing and able to stand up for what she thinks is right. (7 episodes)
  • Amar - a loyal follower to Eli. (6 episodes)
  • Karen Jones - an original member of the group and wife to Henry. Karen is kind and caring but has been left traumatised after witnessing the death of dozens of children at the hands of the undead. (6 episodes)
  • Milo Thompson - son to Peter and Lorna and older brother to Beatrice. Milo is a friendly, sweet-natured child who has a close bond with all of his family. (6 episodes)
  • Ben - a friendly, Siberian Husky who belongs to Henry and Karen Jones. (6 episodes)
  • Henry Jones - an original member of the group who is smart, skilled with a gun and acts as a strategist who comes up with relatively complex or ingenious plans in order to escape the undead. He is the husband of Karen. (5 episodes)
  • Sid - a loyal follower to Eli. (5 episodes)
  • Big Pete - a tough survivor who is recruited by Eli. (5 episodes)
  • Cassie - a survivor who is recruited by Eli. (5 episodes)
  • Joel - a soft-spoken survivor who is recruited by Eli. (5 episodes)
  • Jenson - a resourceful and skilled survivor who joins the housing complex. Despite initially being antagonistic towards Alexis, she eventually earns his respect and he becomes her unofficial senior guard. (5 episodes)
  • Richard Coleman - a kind, compassionate survivor who is welcomed into the housing complex as he is a doctor. (5 episodes)
  • Michael Lewis - a pathologist Alexis went to college with. She tracks him down and he becomes a part of her community. (4 episodes)
  • Steph - a tough but kind survivor who joins the housing complex. (4 episodes)
  • Jack Lucas - a well-intentioned, down-to-earth friend to Angie, Alexis and Victoria who is taken hostage alongside them. (4 episodes)
  • Maddison Collins - a young, beautiful, somewhat quiet and ditsy friend to Angie, Alexis and Victoria who is taken hostage alongside them. (4 episodes)
  • Ollie Graham - the founding member and first original leader of the main group of survivors. He has a close friendship with Jai, romantic feelings for Aimi and a turbulent relationship with Shiro. (3 episodes)
  • Joyce Evans - an elderly Winterhodge Hollow resident and friend and neighbour to the Thompson family. (3 episodes)
  • Donald - a follower of Eli's who is shown to be growing increasingly uncomfortable with his leader's behaviour. (3 episodes)
