Steph is a recurring character and survivor in The Last Ones.
Little to nothing is known about Steph's life before the outbreak.
Out in the ruins of Summerlyn City, Steph's group of survivors panic as a large group of zombies surround them. Leah, is grabbed and bitten in the neck as Coleman watches on in horror. He begs Steph to help her, but she tells him it's too late for her. Their fellow survivor Jeff tells them that the rest of their friends are gone. They don't have time to mourn as the undead close in. As they flee, Coleman is grabbed and pulled to the floor, but he is saved by a stranger called Alexis Norton, who leads the survivors into a housing complex. They're amazed to find a community completely protected by walls. They're introduced properly to Alexis and her friend Victoria Franklin, whom Alexis silences when she tries to act as co-leader. The trio of survivors agree to stay.
That evening, Alexis sees the latest arrivals into their new home. She asks Coleman, who is a doctor, if he'll be willing to help set up an infirmary in one of the old temping offices. He agrees and comments that it'll be a great idea. Alexis asks Steph if Jeff is all right, as he's hiding away upstairs. Steph remarks that they lost a lot of good people today, including Leah. She says Jeff will be fine and that he just needs time. The trio remain unaware however, that Jeff is in the bedroom inspecting a bite on his palm.
Alexis prepares Steph and several others as they prepare to go on a searching mission for Michael Lewis, a pathologist she went to college with. One man, Jenson, speaks up and declares it a waste of time. Steph defends Alexis and asks why he bothered coming if he thinks that. He angrily retorts that he wasn't given a choice as it was help out or leave, an arrangement which Alexis and Steph deem more than fair. After an unsuccessful search for Michael, Jenson grows tired and insists that they head back. Alexis is adamant Michael will be found alive. They eventually find him.
Later that night upon returning to the complex, Steph decides to check on Jeff, only to discover he's not in the house. His whereabouts are quickly discovered when Steph rushes outside upon hearing a commotion and sees a zombified Jeff mauling Victoria. Alexis shoots and kills both of them and coldly walks away.
Steph is absent from the episode as Coleman mentions that she is terribly upset about Jeff's passing and has locked herself away. She is absent from Victoria's funeral and doesn't attend as Alexis addresses the community and reveals that she is naming the complex after Victoria.
A few days later, a meeting is planned with Alexis and Peter Thompson and his group. Coleman and Steph, who are worried about Alexis, approach her and asks if the people she's meeting with are trustworthy. Alexis tells them she has precautions in place and that she'll be fine. She hints to Coleman and Steph that she has a feeling the meeting is about a certain individual, but she excuses herself and leaves when they question who she is referring to.
Steph later takes watch alongside Jenson as they monitor the meeting from above. They warn Angie when she gets hostile with Alexis and they presumably also raise their weapons at Eli Loche upon his arrival.
Later that night, with Alexis away dealing with Eli, and with the threat of explosives going off at anytime, Steph has a difficult time in keeping residents calm. Luke and Jasmin threaten to leave the complex, but Steph tries to assure them everything is under control. Michael comes over and also attempts to assure them. They agree to stay when Coleman and Matt arrive with the news that the bomb has been dealt with and will no longer pose the town a threat. Steph tells Luke and Jasmin to pass word on to the other survivors. Steph expresses her relief to Coleman and Michael and says that things may finally be back on track. Michael replies that he hopes Alexis will be back soon.
Shortly after, Alexis and Jenson are welcomed back to Victoria by Steph, Michael, and Coleman. Alexis tells them that Eli is gone and will no longer pose a problem. She says that they will carry on as they were, and that Victoria will prosper.
Steph doesn't appear in this episode but it's revealed she was released from watch duty after she, on the same night of Eli's death, opened fire on Charlotte Layton and Bobby de Luca, injuring the latter. She mistook them for Eli's men as they approached the complex looking for refuge. Fortunately, the bullet went straight Bobby without doing any damage, and thus, he survived.
During a discussion between Alexis and Jenson, Steph enters and Jenson leaves. Steph demands an explanation after Alexis told her to shoot Bobby, and yet she's been given the blame for it. Alexis reassures Steph that she needed a way of making sure Charlotte and Bobby were indebted to her as they came from a group she didn't trust. Alexis hugs Steph and assures her she needed her and she's been the friend she's needed since she lost Vicky. Steph is touched by this and leaves. Alexis stares after her with an angry glare, hinting she had just lied to manipulative Steph.
Sometime later, Steph approaches Bobby and introduces herself as the idiot who shot him. She tries to explain that she over-reacted because the thought of Eli's men attacking the complex scared her so much. Bobby says he won't forget what happened, but he forgives her, which she appreciates. He then asks where he can find Luke, as he heard he saved his life. Steph points him in the right direction. Having seen Steph talk with Bobby, Alexis walks over to Steph, who assures her she kept their secret from Bobby. Alexis promises Steph she'll be back on patrol soon. Steph says she should hope so.
Steph appears briefly as she takes a middle of the night walk. Jenson, who is on watch, spots somebody spying on the complex from afar. He tells Steph to cover for him as he runs to confront the man. Steph tries to explain that she's on probation but he tells her to do it anyway.
Steph is on watch as Victoria newcomer Lydia-Jean enters the complex.
The following day, Steph is on-guard when Catelyn and Zahra turn up, seeking refuge. Later, Steph is present when Coleman is instructed to perform a strip-search on the ladies. Zahra refuses, only agreeing when Catelyn says she would prefer a female to perform the check. Steph agrees to do it.
Steph is also present when Charlotte and Bobby are arrested after breaking into Michael's lab and also when Drew Franklin enters the complex, but is apprehended straight away as Alexis knows he is from Midway, and has been sent to be a spy.
A few days on, Alexis meets with Steph and asks how arrangements are going for an upcoming meeting with Midway to discuss Drew. Steph explains that she, Matt, and Alvin can go on watch-posts and Coleman is standing by in the infirmary. When the meeting turns badly after Lorna sneaks inside and brings dozens of undead with her, Steph helps fight off the threat. Steph asks Peter and Shiro if they're happy with themselves. Peter points out it wasn't them who did this and Shiro reminds her they're helping to deal with the situation.
Steph, Henry, Shiloh, Aimi, and Rachel make it their priority to shut the gate to stop more dead from getting inside. Shiloh tells them they can make it and that he'll cover them. The group rush forward but Aimi and Steph are both grabbed by the undead. Shiloh saves Aimi, but Steph is bitten in the neck. She falls into the fountain, where she dies.
Steph reanimates into a zombie and stands up in the fountain where she died. Alexis shoots her in the head, killing her for good. Her body is later laid beside the other three residents who died: Monika, Alvin, and Michael.
Steph is buried in this episode. Coleman delivers her eulogy and says he will carry her in his heart for the rest of his life.
